Reading problems are caused when young children construct a flawed neural network to guide the process of reading. Grounded in Piaget’s theory of interactive constructivism, the Read Right Intervention Program relies on the plasticity of the brain to remodel the neural circuitry that is operating inappropriately. Even the most challenged employees are quickly transformed from poor readers to excellent readers—in a matter of months, not years.
In addition to successfully addressing reading problems for all employees, Read Right simultaneously fosters English acquisition for non-native speakers by engaging them in instructional interactions that mirror the way the brain learns language in the first place—through immersion in an meaningful environment in which communication is occuring. As they are learning to speak, young children hear language and attempt to replicate it. In the Read Right Intervention Program, adults hear the language as communicated through books and attempt to replicate it. Simultaneously, adults receive important instruction in the meaning of unfamiliar language they encounter and the correct pronunciations. Interventions are strategic and timely, and speed of English acquisition is optimized.
