Effective Intervention for the Lowest Performing Schools

Read Right has been successfully implemented in low-performing schools all over the United States. As one example, the Hoonah School District in Hoonah, Alaska reports that historically 46% of students in its district passed the state test. Last year, 76% passed. “The only thing that has changed was adding Read Right to the school,” accounts the federal projects administrator.

Another example: Decatur High School in Decatur, Texas went from low-performing to exemplary and reduced the dropout rate from 14% to less than 1% after bringing Read Right to the district. Principal Melinda Reeves was the Texas High School Principal of the Year in 2004. “Read Right,” she says, “is the most powerful thing I have seen in 28 years of education in its impact on student achievement.”
