Making Improvements in Teacher Effectiveness—Particularly for Those Who Work with Students Who Are Most in Need

Teachers and para-professionals who implement the Read Right methodology with students undergo a rigorous seven-week training program under the guidance of a highly skilled reading consultant. Because of the hands-on nature of the training, service to students starts immediately. Formative evaluations of trainees are conducted on a continuous basis, and professional development plans are developed that reflect each trainee’s needs. Student data is analyzed to assist in recognizing when additional training is indicated for a particular trainee. Read Right Tutor Certification is awarded based on competency demonstration during the seventh week of training. Tutor trainees can earn up to 21 college credits from Central Washington University for the training.
