"Reading Improvement Program" and a
"Critical Thinking Skills Program" for
individuals. These programs are effective for
people at all levels and of all ages who do not
read or comprehend as well as they would like.

learning disabled, or simply slow readers.
"I had collected over
2,000 books which I kept around the house so
people would think I knew how to read. I always
had the current best sellers, but I couldnt
even start them. Since Read Right,
Ive almost read all
2,000 and am ready for more! I even read my junk
mail just because I can."
-- Richard Eisenmann

improves a student's reading abilities, in most
cases totally eliminating any reading problems.

Individual
Tutoring Programs
The "Reading Improvement Program" is
for students who wish to improve their reading.
Working one-on-one with a personal Read Right tutor, each student is coached
through a sequence of reading activities designed
to compel his or her brain to remodel the neural
network it is using to guide the reading process. Read Right supplies the
books and audio tapes required to complete the
program. Upon graduation each student will be
able to read with efficiency and comfort.
Individual tutoring is available throughout the
United States and Canada.
For twelve years Read Right Systems
has been implementing this highly successful reading
improvement program in schools and industry. Teachers,
Principals and managers at large companies across the country
such as Ford, Boeing, Hewlett Packard and AMOCO are delighted
with the rapid progress their students and employees make in
improving their reading through Read Right.
As students, tutors and managers tell others of their
successes, we receive numerous requests from individuals eager
to enroll themselves, a child, or a friend in Read Right to improve their reading and comprehension.
Unfortunately, in many cases it hasn’t been available to
them because they either don’t work in one of our client
companies or the child's school has not yet adopted Read Right.
Now we can meet these many requests. Phone Tutoring has
been proven effective, is easy to do and can be done from the privacy of
your own home on a schedule that’s convenient for you. And
in the case of children, you don't have to transport them and
wait while they are being tutored. Our
results with telephone-tutored students show the same rapid
advancement as students tutored in person.
WILL READ RIGHT WORK FOR YOU?
Read Right works for
anyone who can use oral language to communicate effectively.
If a person has learned to talk, they can learn to read.
Read Right works for anyone who has
difficulty reading, including:
1. Those who have been diagnosed as
Dyslexic, Learning Disabled, ADD, etc.
Read Right has been successfully
implemented with students who have been described, formally or
informally, as learning disabled or dyslexic. No matter how
severe the reading problem is at the beginning of the program,
within just eight hours of instruction each student will
become aware that his or her reading is improving.
Bonnie Spinek, who lives in a small community in Arizona,
summed up the impact that Read Right had
on her son. "I was desperate. My son was in seventh grade
and was failing in school. I was at a loss as to what to
do." Her son was matched with a Read Right
tutor in Olympia, Washington for phone tutoring twice a week,
and the appropriate books were shipped to the student. Bonnie
went on to say, "Six months later my son is getting
straight A’s, and he carries a book with him everywhere. He
used to hate reading. He loves to read now. I don’t know how
to thank you. Read Right has transformed
two lives, his and mine!"
Update: Five years later, her son was a senior in high
school, on the honor roll and looking forward to college.
2. High-level readers with slight
reading difficulties
Many adults are capable of reading high
level (even college-level) materials and can summarize the
text. However, reading is not comfortable for them. They read
slowly, often have to re-read passages, don’t enjoy reading
for pleasure, or are embarrassed to read out loud.
Read Right enables high-level readers
with slight reading problems to quickly become excellent
readers. These individuals report a tremendous increase in
reading ease, in the amount they choose to read, and in their
ability to understand the text after a single reading.
In 1992 a radio announcer in Cincinnati, Ohio called us.
She was desperate. She couldn’t read her radio spots
smoothly without practicing them over and over again at home.
She had a reading problem and was very fearful she might lose
her job if she were found out. We agreed to work with her over
the phone. Her consultation revealed the nature of the problem
and what range of materials was appropriate. After a few
months of tutoring her reading problem was completely gone.
The announcer was absolutely thrilled. She couldn’t believe
it. She had struggled with this all her life. Now she could
read her radio spots smoothly and fluently the first time
through.
3. Readers of all levels who have
comprehension difficulties
If a student is not an excellent reader,
they often also have problems with comprehending what they
read. In fact, poor comprehension is often the only symptom of
having a reading problem that the student is aware of.
Pam A., a team leader in Massachusetts, summed up the
effect that Read Right had on her
comprehension, "I can read a procedure in 10 minutes now
and understand it. Before Read Right it
would take me 40-45 minutes, and I’d still have to ask my
manager."
Read Right works to improve the student’s
performance on standardized tests.
Performing well on standardized tests requires Critical
Thinking Skills (Higher Order Comprehension Skills). Critical
thinking skills are a set of skills which allow students to
effectively analyze text, draw inferences, synthesize
information, draw conclusions, and develop effective test
taking strategies. Many adults who are poor readers develop
some of these skills to a high degree as a strategy to
compensate for their poor reading skills. On the other hand,
children with
reading problems often have not had the
time and experience necessary to develop these skills. Once
students’ reading problems are eliminated, they may want to
consider enrolling in the Critical Thinking Skills component
of Read Right to insure their ability to
score well on standardized tests.
